About This Project

High Country Carpentry LTD  -Master Builder House of the Year Entry – GOLD Award. Great job HCC team!

Cool as ice

If this Lake Tekapo holiday home had a theme song, it would have to be something by The Carpenters. We’ve only just begun to take note of the stunning woodwork and craftsmanship, and already we’re in love.

From the recycled timber floors, exposed rafters and cedar cladding in the living areas, to the handcrafted oak bunks in the children’s sanctuary, beautiful timber work takes centre stage throughout. All interior ply has been hand nailed for an extra personal touch. While the kids keep themselves entertained in their own little nook of the woods, the adults can wind down in the luxurious lounge, with its relaxing lake views. In winter, gaze over the landscape as the groomers prepare for another day on the slopes. Built to enjoy year-round, this wonderful retreat stays cool in summer, with outdoor living spaces made for basking in the warm weather. When the cooler temperatures arrive, gather in front of the cosy fire, while a gas furnace heats the radiators and hot water. This is a high-performance house, built to handle the extremes, where every detail has been well considered and crafted.
